About Kevin BarronLiberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Wellingborough
A British Army child, born in Tripoli, Libya, schooled in Methodist College, Belfast and Thomas Becket RC Upper School, Northampton, Kevin Barron is half English and half Belizean. Kevin lives in Northampton and is married to Janice and has a son. Kevin is dyslexic, and initially started work as a dishwasher at a motorway service station on the M1 just north of Northampton. Kevin started working in IT, in 1982, and having worked in numerous roles in IT, he now works for the largest UK financial services company as an Internal IT Security Consultant. Kevin is also a School Governor at a local primary school. Kevin was the parliamentary candidate for Northampton South in 2005 and increased the vote from 6,355 to 8,327. This was an extremely marginal Labour-Conservative campaign in a seat that received a lot of press coverage; however, Liberal Democrats ran their biggest campaign to date in that seat and made the gain in votes against strong campaigning from the other major parties. Two new Liberal Democrat County Councillors were elected in the Northampton South Constituency in the County Council Election on the same day. Since the last election Kevin believes, the New Labour Party has been running the country in an unsustainable manner both economically and environmentally. They have allowed personal debt to pile up without sufficient control, they have allowed Government debt to pile up in order to avoid difficult decisions, and they have entered the country into unsustainable uncommercial contracts through PFI and other such financial vehicles. They have done very little to prepare the country for predictable oil shortages, and at the same time reduce the countries carbon footprint. When they should have been working seriously on these issues over that last ten years they have sat on their hands, consequently we are now heading into the perfect economic storm. It is time to change to a party that has had policies to address these issues in the last two General elections, the Liberal Democrats.
